Celebrating Four Years of Texas Women's Outdoors

COMANCHE, TX -- Texas Women’s Outdoors is celebrating four years of inspiring women across Texas to connect, learn, and grow through outdoor adventures. What began as a single camping trip among friends has transformed into a thriving statewide community that encourages education, empowerment, and conservation.

Kelly Godfrey, Founder and Tarleton State University graduate, who holds a degree in Wildlife Management and a minor in Biology, turned her passion for nature into a movement that empowers women to find confidence and purpose in the outdoors. As the organization expanded, she sought guidance from the Tarleton State University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to strengthen operations and plan for future growth.

Through one-on-one advising, the SBDC helped refine her business model, explore marketing strategies, and develop a sustainable plan for expansion. Mentors Richard “Dick” Barden and Susan Banks, both SBDC advisors, played key roles in providing ongoing support, business insight, and professional development.

“The SBDC has been a steady compass through every trial and turning point,” the founder shared. “Their guidance and encouragement have helped shape Texas Women’s Outdoors into what it is today.”

Now entering its next chapter, Texas Women’s Outdoors continues to empower women statewide to embrace adventure, stewardship, and community, proving that with the right support, growth and success are truly limitless.
