Gem Dandies Finds Success in Downtown Cleburne’s First Year📈

Cleburne, TX — A once-vacant building in downtown Cleburne has been transformed into a thriving small business, thanks to the efforts of co-owners Kem and Brenda.
The pair opened their used furniture consignment store, Gem Dandies, in February 2025 with just $4,000 of their own money. After securing the location, they took on the task of clearing out and renovating the space themselves to fit their vision.

With prior retail experience, Kem and Brenda managed all aspects of the business in-house, including merchandising and marketing. Their hands-on approach and dedication quickly paid off.

In their first year alone, Gem Dandies brought in more than $171,000 in net revenue—an impressive return of over 4,000% on their initial investment.
Now that the store is more established and gaining recognition throughout the community, Kem and Brenda are looking ahead to an even stronger second year, building on the momentum of their early success.

“The support from the SBDC and the Cleburne community has meant everything to us,” Kem and Brenda said. “We’re excited to keep growing and giving people a place to find unique pieces they love.”
